2007 spring (4) Analysis & influence

"And a bucolic backdrop of rolling hills behind a catwalk that, in turn, was painted lawn green and elevated over a river of mint candies isn't the kind of setting you see every day of fashion week, either. But Marc Jacobs has such a surfeit of cool, he got away with both—and then some—at a spring show that was strangely beautiful (as ever), if a little esoteric.

Backstage, he was mum on literal inspirations, speaking instead of "light, kindness, peace, and generosity." The light part made a sort of sense. Jacobs' palette consisted of white, cream, black for contrast, and ombréd grays, with flashes of brilliant holographic sequins. And from a shirred tulle bomber jacket with a furlike appearance to a drop-waist tiered lace dress that evoked Poiret, there was a certain romance to the collection."

"It happens that the clothes are very good: light, romantic, strange. Afterward, Mr. Jacobs called the collection “a corny commentary” on how people described his clothes last season, dark and heavy. “I’m not someone who is angst-ridden,” he said. “I just want to make beautiful clothes that girls want to wear.” If only more designers could convince us they actually thought about how young women dress, there might then be more shows of this relevance."

Fashion statement:
"I’m not someone who is angst-ridden.”
"I just want to make beautiful clothes that girls want to wear.”

This collection is full of light, peace, romantic, strange. We can see that the last collection is so gloomy. Jacobs made a distinction between two collection. He lots of light colors for his collection this time. It was so bright ,especially models wore these beautiful outfits in the stage of lawn green. It was so attractive to draw someone attention.

The light part made a sort of sense. Jacobs' palette consisted of white, cream, black for contrast, and ombréd grays so there were many achromatic colors this season(45%) which also some strangely beautiful/

Jacobs is a independent and competent designer. I guess that he does not want to be controlled by others. That why he had a big change between two collection(dark and light.) Thus, many peopele expect his collection every season.
